Sing a Hymn to Lift Your Spirit

Global news the last few weeks have been sad. During times of crisis many people experience moments of despair. Still many others experience bouts of depression. You may feel helpless and darkness could envelop your spirits. It is those times that you must press on! Music has a way of flushing the spirit and lifting your countenance. When the Saints of Old wrote those hymns, they spoke from experience that in times of uncertainty it is good to know who God is. Be uplifted my friend. Sing along and let the peace of God flood your being with hope and healing tonight. Say a prayer before your eyes shut in sleep for the evening!

BLESSED QUIETNESS
              (Words by Manie P. Ferguson (1897) Music by W.S. Marshall;  James Kirk)

Joys are flowing like a river,
Since the comforter has come;
He abides with us forever,
Makes the trusting heart his home.

            Chorus
Blessed quietness, holy quietness,
What assurance in my soul!
On the stormy seas, He speaks peace to me,
How the billows cease to roll!

Bringing life and health and gladness,
All around this heavenly guest;
Banished unbelief and sadness,
Changed our weariness to rest.
            Chorus

Like the rain that falls from heaven,
Like the sunlight from the sky;
So the Holy Ghost is given,
Coming on us from on high.
            Chorus

See, a fruitful field is growing,
Blessed fruit of righteousness;
And the streams of life are flowing,
In the lonely wilderness.
            Chorus

What a wonderful salvation,
Where we always see His face!
What a perfect habitation,
What a quiet resting place!
            Chorus
