The Bible of Good Will Overcome Evil

Where are the decent Liberian men in the Senate? Where are the honorable men of dignity in the Liberian Senate? Where are you? Talk to me. Tell me you will stand up. Did the President Pro Tempore of the Senate of the Republic of Liberia, speak the words (gesture and mannerism in tow) being published in the national Newspapers?

Honorable. Say it is not so. Tell the world you did not make such utterances in your “supposed to be” astute position. Tell the global community you did not subtly threaten a newly elected senator of the Republic of Liberia. Tell the world you did not attempt to intimidate and humiliate a proud, elected servant of the people. Sir, there is only one bible relevant in your Senate today: it is called Good Will Overcome Evil. No, the Senate does not have its own bible.

The newcomer senator is a servant of the Liberian people, who has been given a new mandate by his constituents, for the good of the people. Mr. President Pro Tempore of the Senate, aren’t you a worker for the people? Should you not be in the best interest of the Liberian people? Do not the people matter to you? Can’t you see the intense sufferings all around you? Do you not see the destitute, despondent faces staring at you? Do you not see the hopeless young faces moving aimlessly around? Won’t you feel for them? The same money you’re clutching close is the same money they need to turn their lives around. It is said, “What’s good for Peter is good for Paul.”

Honorable. Say it is not so. You did not use your office to further reduce the Republic of Liberia and cause us to be a laughing stock for another day. Let alone what you portrayed of yourself. In a world where information is at the touch of a button; a world that has become a global community where everyone knows in real time what is happening throughout the globe. You took to a podium to make a mockery of your country. What about yourself? Tell me it is not so.

President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate. You owe the Liberian people an apology. There is something called tact. This is the least expectation for someone of the caliber of office you occupy. You’ve just disappointed a lot of people who have watched you from the sidelines with respect and esteem. Little did we know. I refuse to accept this for Liberia.

Once upon a time, the office of President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate was occupied by men of distinction, integrity, and honor. Great Statesmen. The likes of who are around no more. Remember, Sir, you now hold that same office. We the people expect you to be a person of distinction, integrity, and honor. A person who rises above the kind of tantrum displayed yesterday. President Pro Tempore, you are the highest ranking officer of the Liberian Senate, a component of the Legislative branch of government. None of your counterparts in nations across the world would have uttered the language you spoke yesterday. Honorable President Pro Tempore. Hold your office in high esteem. Hold your people in even higher regard.

I speak because I am tired of my beloved country, Liberia, being relegated to the lowest capacity in all categories. This has got to change. We are in prayer for Liberia. Hopefully, we the people can advocate with our voices for good change. Please come on board with a reformed voice and action. We wish you the very best. God bless the Republic of Liberia.
